Silence-As long as we stay silent about abuse, then there is no room for recovery. If you have been a victim of any kind of abuse you must share your story! By grouping together with others who share in similar experiences will you to open up about your pain and express yourself in ways in which you never had.
If you have a child, a friend or a family member who has been a victim of abuse, please encourage them to share their story with someone they trust, then if necessary seek group therapy and/or personal counseling.
Abuse can reek havoc on your mental, emotional, spritual and physical life if left unresolved. By releasing the silence of abuse you begin to free yourself of all that hinders your life.

Types Of Abuse
Physical Abuse
Physical abuse is the defined as the physical intent to harm, defame intimidation or cause bodily harm to another human being (According to Wikipedia). Physical abuse has been widely characterized as, “Domestic Abuse,” but physical abuse can be brought on by someone inside or outside the family who causes bodily harm, defamation of character or harm.
Examples of physical abuse would include the following; striking, punching, pushing, pulling, slapping, whipping, being struck with an object, excess hitting, biting, burning, kicking, kneeing, strangling, cutting, head butting, drowning, sleep depriving, denied warmth, tied up, force fed, infected with a disease, withholding medication or food.
Someone who has been physically abused exhibits the physical scars of their abusers and well as the mental and emotional scars. A person with physical abuse may exhibit aggressive personality disorder and become defensive toward others. Persons with physical abuse issues may have deep anger issues and often yell or scream to get their point across. A person who has been physically abused may become compulsive in nature and seek work, drugs or alcohol to hide their internal pains with physical abuse.
Persons who have been physically abused may suffer from low self-esteem, emotional abuse, and neglect. In order to stop the hands of physical abuse they must fight back! You must rid yourself of bad relationships that end in bruised lips and altered cheekbones. Physical Abuse scars may heal in days but life long effects of physical abuse can alter the victim for life.
Sexual Abuse
Sexual Abuse is the forcing of sexual activity by one person toward another, as by the use of threat or coercing. Sexual activity between an adult and minor child and person who is mentally or physical disabled is also considered a form of sexual abuse. Sexual abuse takes away the purest form of the human body; our sexuality. Sexual abuse as a child or adult, damages not only the body, but the mind, and spirit.
Healing from sexual abuse takes courage, diligence, and a willingness to overcome. When a sexual violent act has been committed against the body, toxic shock takes over. Just as if you experienced the flu your body functions break down, you develop a series of symptoms related to the disease that has infested your body. Until you receive medication for your illness you will progressively get worse or die. Not saying you will die from sexual abuse, but the symptoms that are associated with being sexual abuse can have detrimental effects to your body, mind and spirit.
Sexual abuse comes in various forms. Form of sexual abuse and such acts can be considered as the following; non-consensual touching of personal private parts, touching a persons private body parts with clothes on, refusing to give clothes to a child or elderly person, touching the groin or chest, physical rape, oral or anal sexual contact.
Regaining your life minus the pain of sexual abuse takes time, patience, and sacrifice. What was done to you was not your fault, and now is the time to stop the blame and start the game. It’s time to get you back to square one. Reaching back into your life and taking back what was stolen from you, your purity.

Emotional/Mental Abuse
Wikipedia defines emotional abuse as the following; Psychological abuse, also referred to as emotional abuse or mental abuse, is a form of abuse characterized by a person subjecting or exposing another to behavior that is psychologically harmful. Such abuse is often associated with situations of power imbalance, such as abusive relationships, bullying, child abuse and in the workplace.
Emotional abuse reduces your self-esteem and places you in a mental box. People who have been emotionally abused can be abused by anyone who finds them to be a suitable victim. People who exhibit emotional abuse can experience high levels of depression and anxiety and are often classified as bi-polar disordered patients. Emotional abuse can stem from; people yelling or cursing at you, verbal threats, badgering comments, neglect, and personalized mental battles.
A person who has emotional abuse may become anti-social or introverted. People with emotional abuse, fear the opinions of people, have lack of self-control, can be jealous and/or co-dependent. They may exhibit mood swings of calm and anger. The emotionally abused person can be passive aggressive and often hold in their emotional feelings.
Emotional abuse can be associated with a traumatic event that escalated into neglect that was never physically, mentally or emotionally resolved. Emotional scars can ruin your ability to have confidence in yourself; it allows you to live in a bubble of thoughts and preconceptions that feed mental and emotional lies to your mind that control your life. In order to recover from emotional abuse, you must first mentally recover from emotional trauma.
Neglect Abuse
How can we forget about neglect? Neglect can be classified as the gross negligence (lack of care) to a child or elderly person. Child Welfare Information Gateway defines neglect as the following; Any recent act or failure to act on the part of a caretaker, which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse, or exploitation, or an act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm. Neglect is simply not caring enough to make sure that person you have care over is loved.
When a child or the elderly is neglected they are not properly cared for. They are directly neglected by those in their care. Various forms of neglect can be classified as the following; medical neglect, physical neglect, hygienic neglect, inadequate supervision, living in an unsafe environment, placing a person in a harmful environment w/o protection, educational neglect, and lack of love or emotional neglect. Adults who have been neglected as children find it hard to trust others.

They often have very low-self esteem and find it hard to properly take care of themselves and others. Neglect can have severe negative affects such as; depression, withdrawal, emotional/mental abuse, improper hygiene, low self-esteem, and lack of love for others and yourself.
A parent or caregiver may not see their actions as harmful but even neglecting to give a child a hug or hearing how their day was often places the child in an emotional tail spend. A person who has been neglected needs special love and attention. They need to know that someone loves and cares for their well-being.
